Hair Accessories & Theatre Supplies in Chatham-Kent

Some of the most important performance supplies are the small things people remember at the last minute. Act One carries selected hair, dance, recital, and performance basics, and we are gradually rebuilding the broader theatrical-supplies side of the business around what local dancers, schools, studios, and theatre groups actually need.

This is a growing department. Stock is intentionally practical and changes often, so contact us if you need one exact item for a recital, competition, school musical, community-theatre production, or costume.

Hair & Performance Basics

Dance classes, recitals, competitions, auditions, and theatre productions often require practical accessories that never make it onto the “big purchase” list. Act One’s current performance-basics area includes selected small accessories and is designed to support the things dancers and performers routinely need around class and show time.

Bring the studio, teacher, choreographer, costume, or production requirement with you. Hair rules can be surprisingly specific, and theatre needs vary widely from one show to another.

Useful Things We Already Stock Nearby

Performance Hosiery

Our tights inventory is useful well beyond weekly dance class. We carry footed, transition, footless, stirrup, and fishnet styles in children’s and adult sizes, including selected costume and legacy hosiery. These can be useful for musicals, dance numbers, chorus work, character looks, and stage costumes.

Dance & Theatre Footwear

Act One’s strongest theatre department is still footwear. We fit jazz shoes, tap shoes, lyrical footwear, and character shoes for school musicals, community theatre, dance productions, auditions, and other performance work.

Bags & Small Dance Accessories

Recent additions include Capezio/Bunheads drawstring mesh bags and small Act One dance sticker bags. Items like these make useful recital, competition, and gift add-ons and give us a natural place to build a broader accessories department.

Costume-Friendly Dancewear

Our large inherited stock of leotards, bodysuits, skirts, wraps, and tights can sometimes solve a costume need that would otherwise require ordering. We have current basics plus discontinued colours and fashion pieces that may be especially useful to costume designers and productions.

For Schools, Studios & Theatre Groups

If you are outfitting more than one performer, contact us early. We can help identify what we already have, check supplier availability, and discuss group or special orders. That is especially useful for productions that need several pairs of similar shoes, repeated tights colours, uniform accessories, or a consistent look across a cast.

Where We Could Take This Next

The name Act One Theatrical Supplies came from a business that served much more than dance shoes. We would like to rebuild that theatrical side carefully, based on actual local demand. If enough people ask, this department could expand into:

  • complete bun kits with nets, elastics, pins, and practice supplies
  • recital and competition emergency kits
  • performance earrings, hairpieces, and simple stage jewelry
  • garment bags, costume bags, shoe bags, labels, and backstage organization supplies
  • clear straps, body liners, underlayers, and costume-support basics
  • stage-makeup basics and selected theatrical cosmetics
  • wigs, wig caps, moustaches, beards, and simple character accessories
  • school-musical and community-theatre supply packages built from a production list
  • small props, quick costume fixes, and “we need it by Friday” performance essentials

We do not plan to stock every theatrical item imaginable. The useful version of this department is one shaped by what Chatham-Kent actually buys. Tell us what you keep having to order from Toronto, London, Windsor, or online. Repeated requests are the best signal for what Act One should carry next.

Before You Visit for a Production Item

  • bring the costume or production note
  • bring a photo, screenshot, or product link if you have one
  • tell us the quantity needed
  • tell us the performance date and when rehearsals begin
  • for footwear, bring the performer whenever possible

That gives us enough information to check current stock, suggest alternatives, or research a special order without wasting your time.
